I have been sitting taking in tonight’s sad news, trying to process everything, to take it all in. Although it was evident that this day would come, it still hasn’t quite sunk in.
Her Majesty was the absolute best of us. Not because of her role or her position, but because of how she conducted herself throughout her whole life. Her devotion, her regal dignity, her stoicism... these were the hallmarks of her 70 years of duty.
Today is an extremely dark day for our nation, a moment of historical significance, the largest in our lifetime. The upcoming days will be difficult and, no doubt, for all of us whom loved Queen Elizabeth II, but we must honour her memory in the same way that she honoured her promise upon her coronation... "My whole life, be it long or short, shall be devoted to your service".
It certainly was, Ma'am, until your last breath and for that we shall always be forever grateful.
